What Are Modifiers?
Modifiers let customers customize their orders. For example:
- Size: Small, Medium, Large
- Milk: Regular, Oat, Soy
- Extras: Extra cheese, Add bacon
- Spice Level: Mild, Medium, Hot
Creating a Modifier Group
- Navigate to Menu > Modifier Groups
- Click New Modifier Group
- Enter the group name (e.g., "Size")
- Set the selection rules:
- Required - Customer must choose at least one
- Min selections - Minimum number of choices
- Max selections - Maximum number of choices
- Click Create
Adding Modifiers
After creating a group, add individual modifiers:
- Open the modifier group
- In the Modifiers section, click Add
- For each modifier, enter:
- Name - Display name (e.g., "Large")
- Price Adjustment - Additional cost (e.g., +$1.00, or $0 for no change)
- Set the display order
- Save
Assigning to Items
Link modifier groups to menu items:
- Edit a menu item
- In the Modifier Groups section, select the groups to attach
- Save
A single modifier group can be shared across many items. For example, a "Size" group can apply to all drinks.
Selection Rules
| Rule | Example |
|---|---|
| Required, Max 1 | Size: must pick exactly one |
| Optional, Max 3 | Extras: pick up to 3 toppings |
| Required, Min 1, Max 2 | Sauce: pick 1 or 2 sauces |
How Modifiers Appear
- POS: A popup dialog shows modifier options when adding an item
- Customer QR Menu: Modifier options appear inline when selecting an item
- KDS: Selected modifiers appear under each item on the order card
- Receipt: Modifiers are listed with their price adjustments
